Resist Not Evil

Haven't we all had that "special" person in our life? No, not your soulmate! I'm speaking of the other end of the spectrum now. The person who seems like the original Dark Hole in Space. That Do-Badder whom love, light and warmth seem to get sucked into and annihilated each time we approach. Gee, what a wonderful opportunity this Incarnation of All That We Fear, Loathe, Avoid, etc. is giving us! It's all about our own growth in this Planet of Relationships, and Mr. Major Bad Guy is your own creation! Oh please, you say. What could I possibly learn from this Mother of all Curmudgeons? Well, how about this for starters: Did you ever wonder what the Biblical phrase, "Resist Not Evil" is really saying? It's all a matter of what level we wish to vibrate on, as individuals. Picture my hand held up about eye level, parallel to the floor. I'm wiggling my fingers, that's where I want to be vibrating. Now in order to "resist evil", I'd actually have to LOWER MY VIBRATION. Picture that same hand held down as low as I can hold it. If "evil" is vibrating at a lower level, we actually have to literally lower our own vibration to meet it head-on (running into the other wiggling hand, which has been stationed at that level since the beginning of this exercise), so it's only by sinking to the very level that we wish to avoid, that we could "resist" evil. Otherwise, we just stay on our course where it really cannot touch us; we see it, we are aware of it, but we choose not to engage with it on its own level. Ever since that powerful total solar eclipse on August 11, many people's worlds have seemed to be falling apart. The changes brought about by such a major celestial event are far-reaching and unavoidable. What we do have control over is our own attitude, how we choose to interpret these events, which can hit pretty close to home for each of us, and affect our livelihood, homelife, relationships, health, etc. As the Abraham tapes put it, "You are choosing your creations as you are choosing your thoughts." Whenever we are going though a major transition, there is certainly an opportunity for improvement that is part of the change. Do you accept all the changes that come into your life in that spirit? Do you look for the lessons they contain, the real chance for transcending some long held habits and reactive patterns? Let's not miss the treasures that the wagon which seems to bear our burdens may also contain! There is a wonderful affirmation that came my way awhile back: "There is good in everything that happens to me from now on." I like to share that one with my clients. If we can stay balanced, in the center of our Being, even when bombarded by seemingly unsolvable problems, there is a special light of consciousness that dawns within us; we can have an "aha" experience which may turn everyday living into an extraordinary moment. Sometimes we get so caught up in trying to "live a perfect life" in terms of accomplishments, material possessions, the right job, car, house, partner, pet, we forget what we are here for. The journey to that place of Self discovery will look different to each person, but the Destination will turn out to be the same. One of my favorite writers is Florence Scovel Shinn. Her book "The Game of Life and How to Play It" contains so much wisdom. For example: "All disease, all unhappiness, come from the violation of the law of love. Man's boomerangs of hate, resentment and criticism, come back laden with sickness and sorrow. Love seems almost a lost art, but the man with the knowledge of spiritual law knows it must be regained...." We are ALWAYS going to be bombarded by the various planetary actions in the sky upon our natal charts, but will we always choose to react like victims? "What you resist, persists." Yes, it IS easier said than done.
